With a cup of raspberry hot chocolate…MMMMM
1C softened butter
1 1/2 C sugar or turbinado
1/2C Molasses
2 slightly beaten eggs
4C unbleached flour
1/2 tsp salt
2 1/4 tsp baking soda
2 1/4 tsp ginger
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp ground clove
1 tsp nutmeg
Oven 350 degrees
yield 48 cookies
Cream butter and sugar. Beat in molasses and eggs until completely combined. Set aside.
In a seperate bowl, mix together dry ingredients. Add dry mixture slowly to butter mixture. Blend until smooth.
Roll dough into 1 1/2 inch balls and roll into sugar. Place 8 per ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 13 minutes. Cookies will flatten as they bake but will come out slightly soft. This is a soft cookie recipe.
Remove the cookies and cool on wire racks. Serve with yummy cider or hot chocolate.
Other adventures of the day included hot rollers. I try to set my hair each day, but somedays notsomuch. Today was a normal day and Grace wanted in on the action. She has normally curly hair, whereas I just have a slight natural wave left over from my super curly kid hair. She asked me to straighten her hair with my straightening iron, so I did, then we set her hair…I swear it the kid looked just like Shirley Temple when we let the rollers out.

We can’t have a blog without a silly picture, can we? Here is Zoe running around with a clean pair of Rob’s boxers on her head…the kid gets a huge kick out of pulling clean laundry from the basket and wearing it on her head. It doesn’t matter the clothing article….she will wear it on her head.

Craziness.
One last one for a good laugh….I call this downward dog attack

No one here can do yoga in peace with that short little imp running loose.
In other news, we had Rob’s dad, Dusty, over for dinner tonight as he made his was North to the cabin. I made beef ribs in a homemade bbq sauce (worchestshire sauce, molasses and brown sugar- amounts were unmeasured, I just added until it looked and tasted right…), baked potatos and this yummy side pasta dish thing that we buy in bulk from Annie’s. It was a tasty dinner. The ribs were the inpriation for the cookies, so we had some cookies for desert. Grace tied Grandpa’s shoes for him and we said farewell until tomorrow. We are going to the cabin tomorrow to help Dusty bring in the pontoon and the run about. Too cold for boating at this point.
We have a bit of yard and garden work to do before the snow flies. This is the part I don’t like. ugh. I think I will get out of it by stopping my procrastination on other indoor tasks, such as the craft room (hold up, before you yell at me that I was to have already started it…I did….read the last post about recycling!!)
I may bake something tomorrow, though I am unsure what….maybe some bread. MMMM homemade bread and according to the Cass County fair, I have what it takes to bake bread. It’s the magickal pantry (oooo, which ALSO needs cleaning and re-organizing and stock taken before Winter….)
I think that’s all. I feel like going to bed early tonight, but we had a later dinner tonight because Dusty was late getting in, and so the girls are still up. rob went to go buy chocolate. I was craving it. Haven’t had chocolate in a few days. It’s about time.
I’ll take some pictures of the last boating day tomorrow…that will be a cold boat ride. Good thing it is only to the public access.
