Tasha..I feel SOOO much the same way you do. Trying to listen to the news, or "news" as it is, and thinking of each and every life lost today...that part about tucking your girls in bed had me in tears too! Well, said, sweet friend.

OH, and Good For You! For standing up, and protesting...you have inspired me!

Wars, why??

"As we peer into society’s future, we – you and I, and our government – must avoid the impulse to live only for today, plundering for, for our own ease and convenience, the precious resources of tomorrow. We cannot mortgage the material assets of our grandchildren without asking the loss also of their political and spiritual heritage. We want democracy to survive for all generations to come, not to become the insolvent phantom of tomorrow."

You only have to read this to see how far the current Bush administration has departed from what used to be called "conservatism." Remember this guy was a general, but how circumspect he was regarding the power of the military and the necessity of funding our government out of current revenues. But then, Bush was a welsher and Cheny a dodger in his own way. How would they understand the power and limits of the military?
