Grace yesterday showed interest in forming her own BOS/L and learning about Tarot. I found a children’s ezine that features a different Trump card each edition (it’s a Pagan kids ezine, I’ll post the link later) and has a children’s looking Tarot card. I copy and pasted the photos of the first 16 Trumps and printed them out on card stock so Grace can start learning.

She has a Fae oracle already that I gave her years ago but she is really really wanting to be able to read.

Since she expressed an interest in a REAL BOS/L I started doing to digging online for things a kid might want to stick in a BOS/L. I’ve got links to coloring pages, Pagan kids wordfinds, kids spells, rituals, meanings behind the magick explained just for kids. I am thrilled and so is she!

So this coming week I am going to go get her a three ring binder and some clear sheet covers so she can start her BOS/L. This’ll be an interesting thing to see happen. She adores Isis and has since she was about 2. She also adores, interestingly, Medusa. She had a dream at about 3 and asked me the next day if there was such a goddess that had spaghetti hair. I asked her if she was sure it was spaghetti and she said, “well, no, they had heads.” So I asked her if they might be snakes and she said yes! I was really quite shocked. So Isis and Medusa. An interesting combination.

Zoe has taken to putting water into jars then letting markers soak in the jars making “potions” that Rob and I have stepped in quite a number of times after she has poured them out in doorways to “keep out the bad things”. I am quite amused.

Deg is my energy anchor. That is as much as I know about him in his spiritual existence thus far.

Rune is here by me constantly. I am told he’ll be here until I pass through the veil. Both of my sons seem to cherish me. I’ll take that 😉

I have learned that when children are not indoctrinated or when children that ARE indoctrinated are given 5 minutes to be left to their own devices, they cling to nature. They cherish and worship nature.

Grace got baptised as an infant, something that even as a Catholic, I was against as it never made sense to me. It’s fire insurance for the old church biddies. This is the readon my grandmother baptised me in her bathroom sink at only a couple of days old as my mother lay in the hospital near death after heammoraging. She feared my Lutheran father might not have me baptised Catholic, thus condemning my pour infant soul for all eternity. I love the sentiment behind that story, but the dogma is frankly absurd.

Since Grace’s baptism, I have not instructed her in any tradition, Christian, Pagan, or otherwise. She is honestly kept out of most of my spiritual practice sans for a family ritual at a Sabbat, or if a pet dies, the funerary that goes into their passing. that she has made her direction at this phase in her life to be cherishing the Earth and loving the Goddess is astounding to me!

An example of the notion I mentioned above is one I noticed in the documentary “Jesus Camp”. The little dancer girl was on the deck during a rain shower. She wanted to go out into the rain and her mother said no, but then relented for about ten seconds. The girl would not come out of the lightly falling rain when her mother bid her in. The look of pure bliss and spirit about the girl became quite clear. I could see her cherishing being pure spirit and relishing in nature. Nature was her only care, her only god, at that very moment in time. Allowed to just be, she clung to nature.

I am so thankful my children live in the place they do. They are allowed to just be, every single day. They are allowed to find their own path and be pure spirit. They are able to find Goddess and God in everything they do and all on their own with no meddling from anyone. How can a person take that from a child, calling them “willfull”. I’ll take a willfull child over a broken child any day of the week. Broken children come tomy house and their will comes back even if only fleeting. My heart cries for those children.

Who can show me a candidate for the Office of the President of the United States who cares about the fact that we are all people with basic needs? One who believes that health is a fundamental need for a society to function properly? Show me a candidate that realizes that wealth, poor, black, latino, white, asian-NOT EVEN AN AMERICAN-that they are-WE are all people? That a Cuban can come here and get the medical treatment they need just like we can get should we happen in Cuba (or France, UK, Germany, Netherlandsm etc.etc.etc.etc….) to need medical care. Show me that person and I promise you that is who I will vote for.

I am tired of our government making us cumulatively afraid. This is our government.

I really wonder what troubles would befall insurance, big pharm and related companies, as well as their puppets in Congress um, shareholders if we all got together and decided that we care about each other on the base human value and just stopped paying. Stopped paying our insurance premiums and found a friend or relation in Canada, and no longer supported this corrupt, greed laden (there has got to be a better word for greed here-it’s surpassed plain old greed…) un-human, inhumane group of individuals.

I am really mad right now.

I am becoming certified….YAY! So instead of just being a birth advocate and loving attendant for pregnant friends, I can actually call myself a certified post partum doula! I will also go after becoming a labor doula as well, but I have a full plate right now between the PPD and my AAMI studies.

So some girlfriends of mine and I are going to be getting together to write a wimmin’s zine. I am so thrilled at the idea of a zine dealing with wimmin’s issues! I have one friend who has had a baby thus far at home, so she and I have commonalities to write about! YAY!  I am not sure when we will get together, but I hope soon. I have the perfect space for us all to gather for dancing, drumming, thinking, talking and writing.

I have been back at teaching bellydance now too! We have four weeks under our belt and now Connie and I are choreographing a short routine for the ladies to learn in the last 4 weeks. We will have a little hafla on the 30th. The idea behind our classes is troupe formation. We have two ladies who we are going to invite for further learning and to join the troupe. I am so excited about it! The greatest thing is that Connie and I both took our instruction from the Cassandra School! Our instruction was 25 years apart, but the same instruction nonetheless. Another great thing is that her style and mine are different, so routines will never be the same boring thing over and again. She is more traditional, as Cassandra is more traditional. I am more American Tribal Style, as my bellydance study has lead me that direction. It flows for me with regard to my personality as well as why I dance-the spirit of it. The Goddess dance if you will.

I am glad it is fall. THings are slowing down. We are getting our cold frames in, we are setting up for goats before the snow flies, and getting the house cleaned out before cold forces us inside with clutter. de-cluttering stinks, but is so worth it. After we have decluttered, I can take out my slow season crafting, like needlepoints, tea towels, aprons, dresses, etc. I love the cold months for their slow down.

I will have a video series up in a little bit about tea staining. I found a cutsie dress at Target on sale last weekend. It’s Isaac Misrahi for Target. I stained it this morning and it is hanging dry right now. I have some other alterations to do to it, namely taking it in as it is too big…waaaaay too big, as well as adding sleeves and a little trim and making a petticoat to go with it. I am very excited about this dress. I have a certain 40’s farmwife vision in my head when I see the end product in my head. Just you wait!

Off to nurse Zoe to nap and get Grace upstairs to clean her very messy playroom. Then out to tend the chickens. I have rock to throw down around the fencing and eggs to collect and kitchen scraps to feed them (They love treat time!)

More to come….

Elizabeth The Golden Age Trailer

Add to My Profile | More Videos

When the first film, “Elizabeth” came out, I was stunned and did every bit of research on the Virgin Queen that I could. She grew to become my favorite and in my opinion, best queen that the English Empire ever had. She was a feminist before her time, in my view (take away the fact that she couldn’t marry and the societal constraints of women in that day-just look at HER.)

October 12 cannot get here fast enough. I cannot wait to see this. We saw the preview for it in the theater yesterday when we took the girls to see “Stardust” (Very fun and well done, btw. I enjoyed it thoroughly!) and I had goose bumps all over my whole body.

I might-should I have the time-give a little history lesson here about Elizabeth. She is just amazing!
